CENSORED is an independent media platform dedicated to art, culture, and feminist and queer ideas. Each month, we explore a new theme through a dossier bringing together conversations, articles, artworks, archives, and references.

The sections aren’t fixed. They are chosen according to each theme and what it calls for. Conversations, articles, archives, images, references, and discoveries can therefore take different forms from one dossier to the next. The aim is to create connections between the different pieces rather than fit them into a predetermined structure.

A subscription gives you access to all of CENSORED Online’s monthly thematic dossiers, in both French and English, as well as previous articles and digitised archives.

Subscriptions are flexible and can be cancelled at any time from your account. If you have a monthly subscription, you’ll keep access until the end of your current billing month. With an annual subscription, your access will remain active until the end of your one-year subscription period.

Free media often relies on advertising, which turns our attention into value, on data collection and advertising cookies, or on the unpaid labour of the people who keep it running. But editorial work takes time and care: researching, reading, investigating, writing, translating, editing, fact-checking. When that work goes unpaid and time is scarce, quality suffers.

Just as we pay for a book or a cinema ticket, subscribing to a media platform means recognising the value of writing, research, editing, and the work of everyone who makes it possible. CENSORED has chosen to rely neither on advertising nor on external funding. If you want CENSORED to keep going, subscribing is the most direct way to support us.

€5/month is the minimum rate that allows us to offer high-quality, regular, and accessible content. €15/month is our supporter rate. Both subscriptions give you access to exactly the same content. The €15 rate simply allows those who can afford to contribute more to CENSORED’s funding, helping us keep it accessible to everyone.
